IRVINE, CA
TEC is currently working with the FDA to design and build a 133,000-square-foot replacement laboratory for the Los Angeles District. The ground level is composed of laboratory services, administrative space, a conference center, and dining area. Three lab wings have been arranged with an offset at each end of each wing to provide the space necessary for vertical circulation, building services and systems without compromising the integrity of the lab module. Open spaces along the edge of the office encourage interaction between two levels. The facility will be composed of labs (general chemistry including an organoleptic, pesticide and mass spectrometer research center, microbiology, virology, and biotechnology), administrative and support spaces. A BL-3 containment lab facility will also be included.
