CRES #14 is one of the 160 new schools that are planned as part of LAUSD's current $20.1 billion New School Construction and Modernization Program. The goal of this program is to provide every student with the opportunity to attend a safe and healthy neighborhood school. Not only will CRES#14 operate on a traditional two-semester calendar, it will alleviate overcrowding in five local schools. LAUSD’s Facilities Services Division is conducting the largest public school construction and repair program in America's history, ultimately transforming the city's schools and adding nearly 200,000 new classroom seats. When complete, the construction and modernization program will have delivered more than 16,500 repairs, 160 new schools and more than 80 additions to existing schools, and will create a “safer and more walkable” new community plan for the Echo Park residents and the heavily used Alvarado Boulevard.
